5 Struck, 2 Killed in Recent Texas Hit-and-Run Accidents

Dallas authorities have reported that the two individuals found dead on the road on Monday, June 28th, were killed in a hit-and-run accident. This incident is just the most recent of a series of hit-and-runs seen across Texas over the past few days.

5 Individuals Struck

A series of hit-and-run accidents across Texas over the last few days left three dead and two other individuals injured, including a four-year-old girl.

The first accident occurred on Friday, June 25th, near Liquor Depot, a liquor store in the 3500 block of the North Belt Line Road in Irving.

The accident took place at 8 p.m. when a 58-year-old woman reportedly struck a pedestrian, multiple parked cars, and finally the liquor store itself. The incident allegedly began when the woman tried to run over her partner with her Chrysler SUV but missed. She has since been charged with evading arrest, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, DWI, and criminal mischief.

Just an hour later, in San Antonio, a pedestrian was killed when he was struck by two different vehicles while leaving his birthday celebration at the Dragon Sports Bar on Bandera Road.

According to the police, the man exited the bar and attempted to cross Bandera Road without using the crosswalk and without yielding the right-of-way. He was first struck by a black Ford SUV that fled the scene, and subsequently by another driver who did stop to render aid. Anyone with information on this crash should contact the San Antonio police.

The third accident happened less than 24 hours later outside a gender reveal party in the 6700 block of Japonica Street in Houston.

On Saturday, June 26th, at around 8 p.m., a four-year-old girl was hit by a car while playing on the street during the party. According to witnesses, the car parked, and a woman got out to speak briefly to the girl’s family before fleeing the scene. The suspect was driving a white or grey sedan, possibly a Chrysler from 2012 or 2016. The four-year-old received 21 stitches following the accident. Anyone with information should contact the Houston police.

Finally, on the morning of Monday, June 29th, two individuals were found dead on Denton Drive by the Northwest Highway in northwest Dallas.

Later, police announced that the deceased were killed by a hit-and-run driver. The road surrounding the bodies was closed while police gathered evidence. Neither a description nor an identity of the suspect has been released at this time. If you know anything about this event, contact the Dallas police.

Help Texas Solve Hit-and-Runs

Unfortunately, the vast majority of hit-and-run accidents, nearly nine out of every ten, will never be solved. It can be difficult for investigators to identify suspects if there were no witnesses to the crime.

Because of this, if you know anything about a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Texas, you should consider doing your part to keep Texas roads safe by calling your local police department. While accidents do happen, those who suffer due to someone else’s actions or carelessness deserve justice.
