Texas Laws Pertaining to Car Accidents

Fatal car crashes are complex, as numerous factors can pertain to such cases. Holding an at-fault party liable can be achieved by recognizing the laws which they broke and providing evidence of how they correlate to your injuries.

With their extensive knowledge in Texas laws that may pertain to your specific car accident, our Houston car accident lawyer can best help you pursue compensation against the at-fault party for losses suffered.

Driving under the influence is a common contributor to fatal crashes. In this state, a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 0.08 percent constitutes drunk driving.

In the case that a driver has posed intentional misconduct and caused the death of a loved one, you may be eligible to file a wrongful death lawsuit. The statute of limitations on wrongful death lawsuits is two (2) years in the State of Texas.

As per state law, all Texas drivers are required to have at least the minimum amount on motorist insurance coverage. Drivers who are not covered are subject to penalties, including fines, license suspension, and beyond.

In the event that you are hit by a driver who is not insured, you may need to seek coverage from your own uninsured or under-insured motorist policy. If this does not cover all damages, and the guilty party does not offer to pay, you may need to file a lawsuit.
